10x is tantamount to going from horse and buggy to a car. The transformation occurs by operating from a seemingly impossible and imagined future, and takes you in a non-linear and radically different direction and approach than what you (and everyone else) have been doing up to this point.
What got you here won’t get you there. To quote the actor Leonardo DiCaprio, “Every next level of your life will require a different you.”

Hollywood was a place where everyone said yes, but what they really meant was maybe, and what they did was wait to make decisions until they believed they had surefire talent attached: an actor, a director, or a screenwriter with a big box-office appeal and a track record to prove it.

When I was first getting started in venture, I asked a GP what milestones I had to reach to become a GP. He told me the pathway was simple: I just had to pass the wheelbarrow test. The other GPs must believe that if they gave you an empty wheelbarrow, you could figure out how to turn it into a wheelbarrow full of money.

We came to refer to certain types of accomplishments as “black triangles.” These are important accomplishments that take a lot of effort to achieve, but upon completion you don’t have much to show for it only that more work can now proceed.
